As a wedding photographer, a lot of my clients have questions about albums. Should I get one? What are the options? Are they necessary? If these are some of the questions you have, rest assured! I’ll get into all the details, explain the benefits of purchasing an album, and show you what you could be getting.
The main question is why should you get an album. We are at a place in time where all of our photos are available at our fingertips. This makes it seem a bit silly to splurge on a physical album. Despite easy access to the photos you adore, there are still many great reasons to invest in an album. Here are the top 3 reasons that you should invest in a wedding album for your photos.
Wedding days are something that people talk about for ages! Imagine looking over your grandma’s photos in her photo album from 50 years ago. I know that for a lot of people, that is one of the most cherished memories that they have with their grandparents. Now, imagine doing the same thing with your loved ones 50 years down the road. Pooling around a phone does not have the same effect! Whenever you have your photos placed in a carefully curated album, you are not only creating the memories of looking through physical photos, but you have also created an heirloom that can be passed on forever. This is an album that your family will cherish for years to come.
Although it may seem that we have reached the peak of technology, it’s important to remember that we remember where we came from. The days of floppy disks, CDs, and multiple USB drives are over and we have built-in storage and the cloud. However, these means of preservation may change just as quickly as they came. Furthermore, you can ensure your photos are safe from corruption or accidental loss by always having a physical copy of them. An album will live through the tests of time and the growth of technology. Think back to grandma’s wedding album. Don’t you want your photos to live on that long?
This is just an added benefit of getting an album through me. I work with the best company to ensure that you have an album that fits your style. This album can be displayed out in the open in your home and will be an eye-catcher no matter what! Put it on your coffee table for people to flip through while they are visiting you or style it on an open shelf like a piece of art. No matter if you decide to keep it on display or only bring it out for special occasions, you are bound to get compliments on how beautiful it is. Not to mention, you spent all the time and money planning for your wedding, you should display it in a way that is just as meaningful.
Now that you have read through why you should get an album, you might want more information as to what I can offer you. YAY! The Heirloom is a high quality album that will hold your most precious memories for years to come. Ultimately, the album reflects your style and wedding day so there are lots of options to choose from, which are listed below.
When you book with me, you can purchase a package with an album included. This is the standard 10×10, 20-page (10 spread) linen album. You’re welcome to upgrade your album to a larger size, more spreads ($25/each, max 40 spreads per album), or alternate cover options during the design process. Did you already have your big day and now you want to purchase an album? Or maybe someone in your family wants an album for themselves. Awesome! You can order albums a-la-carte. You can read more about these options on my website.
This is one of the fun parts! There are so many options to choose from. When you book a package with the album included, it already includes a gorgeous linen album. From there, you get to choose the color for no additional cost. You can also choose to upgrade your album to leather or suede if that is what suites your style more.
There are some really great upgrades that you can get to personalize your cover. One way is by adding a cameo, which is a little photo on the front of the album. Another way is to get your names (and wedding date) added to the front of the album. This can be done in one of two ways. One way is through debossing and the other is through engraving. Both are a really great way to elevate your album and make it very special for both of you.
Another great way to have your album live on forever is to add a box for its safe keeping. There are several great choices to pick from. These boxes are handcrafted and promise to match the aesthetic of your album perfectly. Choose between a linen dust jacket, white craft box, walnut wooden box, or linen box. No matter what choice you make, your album will be gorgeous and protected for life!
And that’s the end of the process! We’ll communicate the whole way through the process and you’ll get a chance to make any tweaks before we send the proof off to get printed. Then, in just a short amount of time, your beautiful wedding album will be in your hands.
