This couple was special to me, I saw their relationship blossom because the future Mrs. was my former roommate! It’s so cool to see these two engaged after seeing their love unfold during the covid era and beyond. Josephine originally wanted a free-spirited engagement session in a field but ultimately decided she wanted to go the French vibe route, so we shot at CanCan in Carytown, Richmond, VA.

Josephine and Turner’s love story is a beautiful evolution from best friends to lifelong partners. Many of their friends likely saw this coming, but witnessing their bond firsthand was truly special. They have always been inseparable, doing everything together, so it’s only natural that their deep friendship blossomed into love. Photographing them was an absolute delight, especially because one of their standout qualities as a couple is their impeccable fashion sense.

 

We held Josephine and Turner’s engagement session at CanCan Brasserie, nestled in the charming, restaurant-rich area of Carytown in Richmond, Virginia. Carytown boasts a plethora of dining options, but CanCan stands out as one of the more upscale, French-inspired restaurants. The atmosphere was so inviting that I was almost tempted to stay and dine after the session. Given that we had to reserve our photo session with the restaurant manager, the staff went above and beyond to be friendly and accommodating.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We utilized a blend of direct flash and natural window light to capture the fun-loving and lighthearted essence of Josephine and Turner’s relationship. Their love for each other shone through in every frame. They also wanted to shoot outside in front of the large windows, which meant working around a steady stream of passersby, but the effort was well worth it.

 

 

 

 

They really wanted them munching on the bread to be captured which is such a cute and funny moment and I was happy to do so. I’m here for anything that gives off personality!
