Ariel and Pete’s wedding is the perfect example of how this barn-like venue can provide a unique and unforgettable setting for your special day. From a sunny day with perfect weather to cows mooing during the ceremony, their wedding was full of laughter and tear-jerkers.
The sunny weather on their wedding day was ideal, and thankfully, no rain threatened to spoil the festivities. More importantly, Ariel and Pete did a first look before their ceremony, meaning we were able to capture all the photos beforehand and were able to join in on their cocktail hour. The guests were thrilled to get a glimpse of the newlyweds, and this made for the perfect start to their evening.
Not only did Ariel do a first look with her husband, but she also shared a special moment with her father and brother. This allowed the three of them to share an intimate and meaningful moment before the ceremony. It was so sweet to see Ariel share the first look with her family. When Ariel and Pete saw each other for the first time, Pete looked like Ariel took his breath away. It was a great moment and I might have had a teary eye behind the camera…
The ceremony itself was full of surprises, including the cows nearby mooing during the vows. Though it was a momentary distraction, everyone laughed – including Ariel and Pete – which made for great memories. As they exchanged their vows, they did so with an abundance of joy and emotion, which made it all the more special.
The reception at Oakdale was a perfect mix of charm and elegance. The tones of green from the napkins to the flowers by Weddings By Vogue were so complimentary. The wedding party entered as an entire party, rather than a singular announcement of each person. I actually really liked this style of entrance! It was a partttyyyy.
After the dances and speeches, we went outside to take sunset photos at the front area of Oakdale RVA. The sunset was golden and warm and so fun to photograph. I had them hum their first dance song and spin around to it in front of the lake, which made for really romantic photos.
After everyone was fed and the sunset photos were over, everyone danced the night away. The lights dimmed and that really turned the party up. Ariel and Pete exited running through sparklers held by all their friends and family.
I loved being apart of this wedding! Oakdale in Ashland, VA is such a sweet spot for a wedding that makes photographing so easy. Everything is in one area but you’re still able to get so many different scenes.
